On The Road Again

That's right, 5,140 miles in 5 days. We (Cory and I) left Mapleton Utah on Wed. night and drove to Lander Wyoming. We arrived in Lander at 4:30 am and slept until 6 am. We loaded six Curly horses into the trailer and headed to West Point Texas. We arrived in West point at 3pm ish on Friday. After we un-loaded we headed straight for our friends house just south of Dallas. We swam in their pool and kicked back in the jacuzzi. And slept in a real bed, aaah. On Saturday morning I slept in and Cory drove into Dallas. He works a 9 to 5 for a company called Insta-Chain. They had a booth at an expo there he was helping with. It was a good sales training experience for him. He got back about 7pm and we got back in the truck and drove to Brenham about 2 and a half hours southeast to pick up a miniature horse cart then turned back toward Waxahachie (where our friends live). We got there about midnight and hooked onto the trailer and pulled out for Comanche. A mere 3 hours southwest. When we arrived at 3 o'clock in the am we slept till 6 loaded one Curly horse and immediately got back on the road again. We turned our sights and truck toward Osage Iowa. So we crossed Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas in a south to north pattern and clipped the corner of Missouri. We finally entered Iowa and I thought we were almost to the destination, Cory had mentioned it was just north of Des Moines. Not so! We were all but in Minnesota when we stopped in Osage and picked up a fine looking Tennesse Walker named Gus. We drove through the night and through Minnesota, South Dakota and into Wyoming in a east to west direction. We got back to Lander at 4 pm on Monday and dropped off the last Curly. Then we officially headed for home. We arrived in Mapleton at about 10pm and un-loaded Gus to his new(and much warmer) home in Mapleton. All went well and we were only minutes from home. It was long, maybe too long this time. But I love being on the road with Cory. We laugh and sing and walk down memory lane together. Saddle sore? Yes, but I wouldn't trade it.
